Acer Liquid Jade 2 Reset Procedure
There are several reasons you may need to do an Acer Liquid Jade 2 reset Android device. They include, but are not limited to:
- Loss of network connectivity
- Intermittent loss of signal
- Audio problems
- Application errors
- Forgot pin code or access information
- Forgot unlock pattern
- Corrupt firmware or operating system
Basically, any problem you are having with your phone can be resolved with some kind of reset. With the Acer Liquid Jade 2, there are two types of resets – a hard reset and a soft reset. A hard reset will completely reset the phone. It will erase all apps and data that you have on the phone. Doing a hard reset is usually a last resort. It will almost always work to resolve any type of problem, but it will delete everything on the phone. On the other hand, even if you do a hard reset and delete all your data, if you use the same Google account to set the phone up after the reset, most of your data and apps will resynchronize to the phone after the reset.
A soft reset is a good interim step. It does a little more than just restart your phone, but it doesn’t erase any stored data. That means that after a soft reset, your Acer Liquid Jade 2 will still contain all your documents, photos, music, apps, text messages, contacts, etc, as it did before the soft reset. It won’t necessarily cure all problems, though.
Hard Reset Acer Liquid Jade 2
Option 1 – If you are currently able to access the device
- Tap the Acer Liquid Jade 2 to turn it on
- Go to the settings menu
- Select accounts
- Select Backup and reset
- Select Factory data reset
The Acer Liquid Jade 2 will now begin the process of resetting. This can take several minutes and the phone will restart one or more times. If it boots into unfamiliar screens (which it will do when it boots into recovery to erase), don’t worry. It will do this all automatically. Just be patient and wait for it to finish before trying to use the phone. If it seems to be taking longer than it should, it’s probably fine. Just walk away for a little while and come back to it. Chances are, when you do, it will have completed the reset.
Option 2 – If you are currently unable to access the device
If you are unable to access the device, such as when the phone will not boot, or you have forgotten the information needed to unlock the phone (like a PIN code or unlock pattern), there is still a way to do a hard reset and erase the phone, resetting it back to factory condition. For this, there is a special screen you can go into without fully starting the phone called “recovery”
The following procedure will allow you to do a hard reset of the Acer Liquid Jade 2 without access to the operating system.
Turn off the Acer Liquid Jade 2. Make sure the phone is completely powered off, otherwise the next steps will not work.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons while powering on the Acer Liquid Jade 2.
This will bring you to the recovery menu that I mentioned earlier. The recovery menu is a text based menu with a highlighted item
Use the Volume up and down buttons to navigate to the item CLEAN BOOT and use the camera button to select.
Do the same to navigate to and select YES to confirm.
Just as with option 1, the Acer Liquid Jade 2 will now begin the process of resetting. This can take several minutes and the phone will restart one or more times. Yoi will see it boot again into the recovery menu, but don’t worry, it will complete the reset without further intervention. Just be patient and wait for it to finish before trying to use the phone. If it seems to be taking longer than it should, it’s probably fine. Just walk away for a little while and come back to it. Chances are, when you do, it will have completed the reset.
